Birth Trauma Awareness Week is ending but these clients still need us.

Hi Reader,

Want to send a last minute email to let you know it's not too late to sign up for the workshop tomorrow at 12-1 EDT. This workshop will be all about working with birth trauma as an EMDR therapist. As we know, trauma is much more common than we once thought.

*there will be a replay sent with all the slides and PDFs included if you can't attend live.

If you've ever found yourself wondering...

  • What if my client experienced a traumatic birth, but that's not why they came to therapy?
  • What if my client had a NICU stay?
  • What if they've experienced a miscarriage or pregnancy loss?
  • What if they're carrying grief from infertility or IVF?
  • What if they've had a stillbirth?
  • What if they experienced a medically complicated pregnancy?
  • What if they describe feeling disconnected from their baby after birth?
  • What if they carry guilt, shame, or a sense that they "failed" during labor and delivery?
  • What if they become activated every time they think about becoming pregnant again?
  • What if they say, "Everyone tells me I should just be grateful my baby is healthy"?

These experiences are far more common than many clinicians realize, and they're often overlooked in EMDR case conceptualization.

Tomorrow's workshop is designed to help you better recognize, conceptualize, and support clients carrying birth-related trauma with greater confidence and compassion.

That's exactly why I wanted to bring this workshop to our EMDR community and I knew there was a better person to speak on this topic.

I am thrilled to welcome Medha S. Kudaisya, LCSW, PMH-C, EMDR Certified Therapist & CIT to teach this workshop.

Medha is passionate about perinatal trauma, grief, and BIPOC mental health. She trained in EMDR with Mara Tesler Stein and has spent years working with clients experiencing perinatal trauma. One of the things I appreciate most about her approach is that she is a strong believer in the Standard Protocol. Her goal is to help newer EMDR therapists feel more confident and at ease using the EMDR skills they already have with birth trauma clients.

EMDR and Birth Trauma Live Workshop

Hi Reader, As Birth Trauma Awareness Week comes to a close, I keep thinking about the clients whose birth experiences continue to impact them long after the baby is born. Many of us weren't taught how to recognize birth trauma or how to confidently use EMDR when it shows up in the therapy room. Maybe you've had a client mention an emergency C-section, a frightening delivery, a NICU stay, or feeling dismissed during labor, and you've wondered, Am I equipped to help with this? That's exactly...

virtual emdr tool

Hi Reader, If you provide EMDR virtually, I wanted to share a tool upgrade that I've genuinely found helpful. I've used BilateralStimulation.io for a while, and honestly, I assumed the Professional Plan wasn't for me. I'm usually the person who sticks with the free version of software because I don't need a lot of extra bells and whistles. But after trying it, I realized the Professional Plan doesn't make things more complicated, it actually makes my sessions smoother and helps clients really...
